Hemorrhoids are enlarged swollen protruding veins at the opening of the rectum or anal canal. They may be internal or external in nature. In either case they cause innumerable suffering in the way of itching, bleeding and pain. In most cases they will recur at one time or another in one life. They do not discriminate between rich or poor, men or women, though there are less affected in developing countries and hemorrhoids have been around for centuries. Even Napoleon had his problems at Waterloo. It's important to note that they are hereditary so diet and exercise is very important. Hemorrhoids are brought on by pressure or straining that put stress on blood vessels of the rectum.

Diet and activity that can worsen constipation should be revised accordingly. Although this is a common condition, as it happens to 50% of the whole population, ignoring its symptoms can lead to unwanted complications.
